How Scholarship Selection Works
A simple, dignified, and completely transparent model designed to give every single enrolled child an equal opportunity.
The Njainday Pullo Cham Memorial Foundation will invite 15 selected primary schools to participate in the 2026–2027 scholarship cycle. Each participating school will provide a complete and certified list of its currently enrolled students. Every enrolled student will have an equal opportunity to be selected, regardless of income, academic grades, gender, religion, ethnicity, disability, or family circumstances.
Each student will be assigned a confidential reference number. Five scholarship recipients and two alternate recipients will be selected through a transparent physical random draw in November 2026. Selected students’ parents or legal guardians will be contacted by November 30, 2026, for verification and gala arrangements.

15 Selected Participating Schools
The Foundation will invite 15 selected primary schools across The Gambia to participate in the 2026–2027 scholarship cycle.
Certified Student Lists

Every enrolled student is assigned a unique, confidential reference ID (e.g. NPC-2026-000001) to maintain strict privacy during the draw.

Media & Publicity Consent
The privacy and dignity of every child will be protected. A selected student’s name, school, photograph, video, or personal story will only be published after written permission has been received from the student’s parent or legal guardian. Families may decline publicity without affecting the student’s scholarship award.
January 2027 Gala
Jan 2027The five selected students and their parents or legal guardians will be invited to attend the official Scholarship Gala in January 2027. The scholarship awards will be presented during the ceremony. If a family cannot attend because of an emergency or another valid reason, the Foundation will arrange an alternative way for the student to receive the award.
Scholarship Award Presentation
Each scholarship award will be presented directly to the selected student and their parent or legal guardian. The award is intended exclusively to support the child’s primary school education, including school fees, uniforms, books, supplies, transportation, and other educational needs.
The School Administration’s Role in Selection
Participating school administrations serve as important community partners. The school administration’s role is to provide a complete and accurate certified list of all currently enrolled primary school students. School administration does not nominate, rank, shortlist, or select scholarship recipients. The Foundation conducts the scholarship selection through its transparent random-draw process.

The Njainday Pullo Cham Memorial Foundation was established in loving memory of my mother, Njainday Pullo Cham, to support the foundational education of primary school children in The Gambia.
Her life was characterized by immense generosity, love for community, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every child. Through this scholarship initiative, we honor her name by ensuring that young boys and girls across 15 selected participating schools receive the support they need to learn and flourish.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
The Njainday Pullo Cham Memorial Foundation was founded by Khadija Johnson in loving memory of her mother, Njainday Pullo Cham.
Khadija holds both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree and has built a successful career in senior information technology leadership. Her professional experience has strengthened her commitment to fairness, transparency, accountability, and creating opportunities for others.
Through this privately funded scholarship initiative, Khadija is honoring her mother’s legacy by helping primary school children in The Gambia access the educational support they need to learn, grow, and build brighter futures.

All enrolled students at confirmed participating schools will be automatically included in the confidential scholarship random draw.
The Foundation intends to invite the following 15 primary schools to participate in the 2026–2027 scholarship cycle. A school will be identified as an official participating school after its acceptance and confirmation.

2 Can individual students or parents apply directly?
No individual application forms are needed. To ensure total fairness and remove administrative barriers, all currently enrolled students at confirmed participating schools are automatically included in the pool through their school's complete certified roster.
3 What is the role of the school administration?
The school administration is responsible solely for providing a complete, certified enrollment roster of all students currently attending the school. School administrations do NOT nominate, rank, recommend, or select scholarship recipients.
4 What are the key deadlines for the 2026–2027 cycle?
Participating schools must submit their certified student lists by October 30, 2026. The transparent physical random drawing takes place in November 2026, and selected families will be notified by November 30, 2026. The Scholarship Gala and award presentation will take place in January 2027.
5 How is student privacy protected during the random draw?
Each student is assigned a unique confidential reference number (e.g. NPC-2026-000001). Only the confidential reference numbers are placed in the physical drawing bag. Student roster names and phone numbers are kept private and accessible only to authorized Foundation staff.
6 What is the policy on media consent and publishing student photos?

No. There is strictly no application fee, no nomination fee, and no participation fee of any kind. The scholarship initiative is privately funded by the founder in loving memory of Njainday Pullo Cham.
